Show Notes

It is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and today we’re getting under the hood with Efrat Roman a serial FemTech entrepreneur, a feminist and activist, a keynote speaker, and an open water swimmer.

Born and raised in Jerusalem, Israel, Efrat served as an IDF intelligence soldier in occupied Bethlehem, at the rise of the first Intifada, which exposed her to experiences that shaped her political awareness and views, and led her to become an activist for human rights and equality.

When she was 11 her grandmother died of ovarian cancer, when she was 15, her mother had breast cancer underwent harsh treatments, and thankfully survived, and when she was 40, she was diagnosed with breast cancer herself. In 3 months she lost almost all the organs and parts that defined her as a woman. This experience diverted her life to the path of multidisciplinary studies; through her art, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

In 2013, Efrat launched CureDiva.com, the first-ever social commerce platform exclusively for women with breast cancer. In 2016 she founded - EZbra - the world's first and only sterile and disposable post-op bra and dressing. EZbra was designed to allow patients to recover from breast surgeries with dignity and ease, has garnered patents, and regulatory approvals, and is now on sale in more than 20 countries, on its mission to become the standard of care for post-op breast dressing.

Being a FemTech visionary and pioneer, and doing it before the term even existed, Efrat encountered uncountable obstacles and barriers of outdated patriarchal worldviews, and exclusion of women from the places where their health and well-being are being discussed. This has made her a fierce feminist, and a determined evangelist of revolutionizing the landscape of women's health.
